General

Q.What process does the IMO wash use?
A.IMO's system uses a seven or eight brush wash process which has been refined since 1965 with cars moving through the wash hall continuously. At various stages on the conveyor the different treatments are applied to the vehicle to give customers a clean vehicle. Because the equipment is located within a wash hall, IMO's conveyors are not prone to freezing which typically affects petrol station car washes.

Q.What differentiates IMO from the petrol forecourt washes?
A.IMO's system uses a seven or eight brush wash process compared to traditional non-attended, petrol forecourt car washes IMO's system is quicker for the customer, more convenient and provides a better quality clean at a comparable price.
The customer simply drives up to the entrance, pays the operator who pre washes the vehicle and removes any surface dirt and brake dust. The vehicle is then directed on to the conveyor track by the operator and then pulled through the wash hall in a process lasting approximately 2.5 minutes.
At various stages on the conveyor the different applications are applied to the vehicle allowing up to four cars to be washed simultaneously with a maximum capacity of up to 90 cars per hour
This wash process compares to a traditional roll over where a customer leaves the vehicle, buys a token, parks the vehicle in the wash and then sits stationary in the vehicle whilst the machine then makes a number of passes over the vehicle, each pass performing a separate programme which can take up to 3 times longer than the IMO wash.

Q.What are the alternatives to the conveyor wash?
A.

Roll overs and hand washing which take significantly longer are not as environmentally friendly and typically cost more.

Q.Does an IMO wash make the car cleaner?
A.An overall combination of a manual pre-wash and seven to eight brushes gives a quality finish. The vehicle is guided through the wash hall which ensures quality and a consistent finish. IMO are also leading the field in terms of Triple coloured foam and more recently hot wax, all of which combine to provide a better quality finish.

Q.How many cars can an IMO site wash per hour?
A.An IMO site can wash a maximum of 90 cars per hour on any programme as opposed to a roll over which can take up to 7 minutes for a top wash per vehicle.

Q.What part does technology play?
A.Sites are all controlled through Microprocessors which allow safe and accurate control of the equipment and for data to be polled and down loaded as required.

Q.What happens to the wastewater?
A.Over 80% of water is recycled and waste is removed from all used water. Waste is then stored on site and regularly removed by environmentally approved contractors.
